camera converter ?

i'm about to start Production on my moive,but i found out that my camera is a vhs-c, and it is a old 1998 camera plus there is only a av-out port so i was wondering is there a converter out there that can convert dv to av. the capture card's only work on dv ports or so i beleave plus my dad wont buy me a new one, one more thing is there a captuer card that can be used with av ?

The Pinnacle DC30 capture card would be suitable for you. It has inputs which will match the AV-out on your camcorder. All you need is a simple composite AV cable to connect it up.

No, there isn't just a cable to convert AV or DV! It is not as simple as that, it takes a dedicated video capture card. There might be a cheaper capture card than the DC30, though. I believe Pinnacle's DC10 card also accepts AV input. I don't know what that sells for in the US, in Britain it's about ?200.

You can buy a Sony analog to digital converter for about $300 to $350 --I just bought a brand new one on eBay for $320...

Also check out http://www.dazzle.com --they have a new converter that does the same thing and I think it lists for $299 --you might be able to find one cheaper...

Worse case scenario is find someone with a MiniDV camera with an analog IN port... then feed the video out of your camcorder in through a friend's MiniDV camera...

Don't worry about it for now... just shoot your movie. If you want it bad enough, you'll figure it all out afterwards...
